Tasty food, wonderful cocktails, and friendly service. Especially enjoyed the steak and kale salad. Will be back.
Went last night with my wife to celebrate our 18th anniversary. I must've mentioned that when I made the reservation because both the hostess and our waiter greeted us with a "Happy Anniversary!" I knew then, we were in good hands. The vibe of the place is really great. The volume of the room is as expected and certainly not loud to the point of affecting conversation. The look into the kitchen from the dining room floor is fun. The food: 1) We got the poutine for an app. Even the smaller size is substantial. The flavor of the gravy has depth and the fries are really well seasoned. I asked for some ketchup simply because I knew it was house made and I wanted to try it. It's a touch sweeter than bottled ketchup but has enough vinegar in it to make that work. This was a satisfying app! 2) The fennel sausage pasta. This dish was amazing. The cook on the house made pasta was perfect and the noodle itself was just the right amount of rustic. The sauce was tasty and complimented the sausage perfectly. The chickpeas in there was a pleasant surprise. And can't go wrong with the burrata on top either. Let me add: You MUST get the focaccia with this dish. Best I've had. And the house made butter is spot on. 3) The fried chicken. Nice crisp fry. Generous portion of chicken- four pieces. The sauce on it was tasty but not evenly distributed. Some pieces had a lot and some had none. Not sure if that's intentional. The coleslaw and pickles were so good and necessary for this dish. I wanted more. I actually would have been happy with three pieces of chicken and more coleslaw. 4) Brussel sprouts side. I loved this but my wife doesn't like mushrooms. So be advised. Nice level of sweetness and vinegar in there. 5) Chocolate coconut tart - very intense dark chocolate flavor. Mostly tasted the coconut in the crust. The raspberry sauce was bright. This was good, not exceptional. 6) Special dessert: Ricotta panna cotta. THIS was special. I would say make it a regular dessert. Texture and flavor so good. Crunchy pistachios (I think) on top was great. There was like a brown butter or caramel/chocolate sauce under it that was very good. The service (Lewis) was excellent. The parking lot makes it an easy place to access. I've already recommended this spot to my Syracuse and Rochester friends. Can't wait to go back!
I recently dined at Kindred Fare in Geneva, NY, with neighbors, and it was a fantastic experience. The drink options were impressive, and I loved the gin special with glitter--a fun and unique touch. I enjoyed the BLC pasta special, which was absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated the variety of gluten-free and vegan options on the menu.
Kindred Fare creates food that is good for your body and soul. Every time you try one of their amazing foods, it takes you back, and makes you feel like you are having a home cook meal. From the design of their dishes, to the flavors, to the aromas, you can tell that they take pride in the food that they serve. Kindred Fare offers a menu with a lot of variety that's offers many gluten free options. They also have a full service bar that creates incredible cocktails. If you are dining in, I recommend making a reservation because it does get pretty crowded, and the bar has limited seating. I highly recommend ordering their crispy calamari and friendship fries to start. Both are incredibly delicious and both dishes will make you want more and more. Next, I recommend their Fried Chicken and Mac and Cheese. Kindred Fare took comfort food and raise the bar. Each bite was absolutely incredible and I could not put my fork down. If you are in the area and are looking for incredible food, then Kindred Fare is the place for you. Come hungry and you will leave with your belly full.
Drinks: 6/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Tucked away next to two hotels and a Sherwin Williams oaint is this amazing restaurant, specializing in local ingredients (both food and spirits) from the Finger Lakes. I have now been here twice, and each time it was excellent. The cocktail and spirits list is comprehensive and focused on smaller distilleries. The service is uniformly excellent. The food? Good-to-great. Highlights include the cauliflower hot honey "wing" appetizer and the rotating specialities. Both times I visited it was crowded (and with good reason!) and we had reservations.
Visiting from Florida in July 2024 and our meal at Kindred was definitely the best meal of our whole visit! If you happen to be gluten-free, as my wife is, I'm pretty certain you will love this spot since there are a number of options. My wife had fried chicken , which she can never normally have at a restaurant, and she loved it. A few of us had one of their specials a fennel sausage pasta, great dish. Another had scallops, great dish. Appetizers were especially incredible. Sounds simple enough but their French fries were unlike any you will ever have ever, incredibly original and tasty. We also had calamari which my wife usually can never have at a restaurant, solid. Modern looking restaurant, a little loud acoustics there, but the food was so good, who cares. Strongly suggest eating here
I had my first visit to Kindred Fare in October 2023. I was grateful for the opportunity to visit again. I won an instagram event giveaway last minute and was able to participate in a special community event. How lucky! The event was a ladies night out wellness event. It was a great evening hosted by two local women who have health and wellness related businesses in the area. It was great to engage in discussion on the topic and learn from each other. The menu was unbelievable. Everything we ate was so fresh (the items were sustainably made with local ingredients) We also learned about the why behind the ingredients used in how they related to digestive health. The stand out item for me was the soup and main entree. I've never had trout before and was amazed by the flavor. It reminded me of salmon. It paired very well with the ginger carrot purée and broccoli. The way it was prepared made it so tender. It just melted in your mouth. I also enjoyed the flavor combination of the seafood bisque with locally made sourdough bread. We had our own private room which made the event feel intimate and private. Kindred Fare offers a unique dining experience unlike any other in the area.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Upstate NY/finger lakes region! They have amazing high quality food, great cocktail and wine menu, as well as a friendly staff :) I can't recommend the cauliflower wings and kindred kale salad enough! Both are amazing appetizers. Warning: portion size is generous so I'd get a few things to share
This is our second visit to this place to eat.
